MARGAO- Member of British Parliament, Mr Keith Vaz on Thursday said that Britain has tightened the visa norms to stem the illegal migration into the country.
He said that Britain still needs people of Indian origin to work for the country. He further said that the tighter visa policy has been put in place due to rampant illegal migration, however, the tough policy will in no way affect those willing to visit in the country, especially from India.
Mr Vaz, who is in Goa along with Leicester United Under-14 team, further said he fears that the economic crises will have its bearing on the tourist coming to Goa.
He further said that the Scarlet Keeling murder case too could have a bearing in the number of British tourists visiting Goa and hoped that justice will take it course and the guilty will be brought to book. Commenting on the economic situation, Mr Vaz said that as a result of strong banking norms, India has not been affected much by the financial crises.
Playing down reports of discrimination of people of Indian origin as well as from the sub-continent, he said that 2.5 million people of South Asia are doing very well in the country.
Recently there was a report of a top police official from UK filing a harassment case against his superiors.
