PANAJI: The Health Minister, Mr Vishwajit Rane on Thursday issued directions to the Goa Medical College authorities to streamline the functioning of the apex medical institution in the state and put an end to the problems faced by the patients and their relatives who come for treatment there.
The instructions from the Health Minister came at his meeting with the heads of departments of the GMC on Thursday afternoon, where he also apprised himself with the problems faced by the GMC functionaries.
The minister directed the GMC officials to end the problems of the patients and staff within 10 days.
The minister took note of various deficiencies in the apex medical institution in the state and directed concerned staff to ensure that all the deficiencies were corrected at the earliest and also to provide all the equipment, medicine and linen within the stipulated period, failing which he has warned of action against erring officials.
Stating that the old and outdated system for procurement of medicines and other equipments from the central pharmacy and central store should be discarded, he told the officials to ensure that all medicines, equipment etc were well stocked and made available to the patients without fail, once the requisition was certified by the heads of departments.
