PANAJI - Mr Prajal Sakhardande, the lecturer of history in a city college who was attacked by a group of people carrying weapons, last month, along with the social activist and advocate, Mr Aires Rodrigues, on Tuesday brushed off the possibility of the Chief Minister, Mr Digambar Kamat giving consent to carry out the attack.
Mr Sakhardande, speaking to ‘The Navhind Times’ said that he doesn’t want to comment on the issue pertaining to the allegations on the Chief Minister as regards his possible direct or indirect involvement in the attack.
It may be recalled that Mr Rodrigues had alleged that the Chief Minister not only knew about the attack but had also given a green signal to the same. Mr Rodrigues had also demanded with the Governor, Dr S S Sidhu that brain-mapping of the Chief Minister should be carried out to find out the truth. Mr Sakhardande, on the other hand stated that he has no evidence to make any allegation towards the Chief Minister as regards the attack. “On what basis can I point finger of suspicion at the Chief Minister,” he questioned. “I am of the opinion that police department is the best agency to find out about those behind the attack,” he maintained, pointing out, “I had gone to meet the Governor with the sole objective of requesting him about bringing to book those responsible for the attack.”
“Mr Rodrigues, on the other hand told the Governor that he had his own sources which confirm the hand of the Chief Minister in the attack,” Mr Sakhardande informed. The lecturer in history also said that the Governor told the delegation led by Mr Rodrigues, not to make any serious allegations on important persons unless having authentic evidence in support of the same.
Interestingly, Utt Goenkara, which is represented by both Mr Rodrigues and Mr Sakhardande has demanded that the Chief Minister be made a co-accused in the attack.
