Over 3,000 students to answer GCET today

PANAJI - The Goa Common Entrance Test 2009 will be conducted by the department of technical education on May 13 and 14, 2009, in five subjects namely physics, chemistry, mathematics, biology and computer science based on syllabus prescribed by the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Education. The result of the test is expected to be declared on May 24.
Altogether 3,155 students from the science stream, who have already appeared for the HSSC examination earlier this year, will be answering the GCET 2009 through 10 centres around the state with an aim to seek admissions to various professional degree courses in Goan professional institutions. There shall be 100 per cent weightage for the GCET 2009 results for preparing the merit list in these institutions.
In all 3,155 students would be appearing for the physics and chemistry subjects, at the GCET 2009, while 2,560 students would be answering the mathematics subject. Those students appearing for biology and computer science subjects number 2,259 and 214, respectively.
Meanwhile, the G2CET 2009 would be conducted on May 15, 2009, for students aiming to seek direct admissions to the second year of the engineering and pharmacy degree courses. The result of the G2CET 2009 is expected to be declared on May 31.
